Gearing up

So. The situation is this.

I have couple triathlons under my belt. All of them have been sprint distances. First one is from 1991, and the second followed only 13-15 years later. In the 90s I spent nice moments in helping M. Luoto during some of his races, but still I couldn't make any sense what and why to do an Ironman?

I have a clear recollection how much running a marathon hurts me, and I simply couldn't make sense why I should conduct a WU containing 4k swim and 180k ride. Just couldn't understand how that is possible. Now, I my 'triathlon wannabe' career v. 2.0 I have been able to widen my mind and have realized that there's much at stake, something more real and more honest than a number/race time; it's about finding yourself. And that sounds pretty fine to me nowadays.

As a trend triathlon is now the next marathon, and I'm okay if someone labels me as falling into that category. Or label me as being a MAMIL. No worries. I've been called by way worse expressions than these. For me the true meaning for this journey is to once again find the person (me) who is ready to kick some ass. I have lost the interest in racing against the clock on track basically because after 2001 every single time when I have tried to prepare my body for it, I have faced an injury. Of course, I'm really happy with what I achieved on track, but now I'm ready to refriend myself with the athlete within by throwing myself to wolves.

So in order to fit into whatever category, I had to invest to a (entry-level ) TT bike. Ready, set ...
